IT Business Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Information Technology professional for the role Information Technology Business Analyst to be based at our Brisbane location in a hybrid capacity.  

We are seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to support key projects by validating requirements and driving successful outcomes. This role involves analyzing requirements, processes, systems, and data to define functional and non-functional specifications, consulting with stakeholders, and validating system functionality through testing.

About the Role:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate business and technical requirements.
• Translate requirements into functional and non-functional specifications.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to clarify needs and expectations.
• Conduct gap and process analysis to identify improvements and recommend solutions.
• Develop process models, workflows, use cases, and support system design.
• Utilize data analysis tools and techniques to identify insights and improve business performance.
• Assist in project scoping, feasibility studies, and benefits realization.
• Support test planning and coordinate user acceptance testing.
• Work with development, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure solution alignment.
• Manage risks related to requirements and delivery.
• Support change management, including training and documentation.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• Minimum 5 years in a similar role within a large, complex organization.
• Strong skills in business process design, project execution, and financial acumen.
• Proven ability to analyze complex processes and communicate effectively.
• Experience in requirements development, scope, feasibility, and benefits planning.
• Skilled in risk management and prioritization.
• Ability to collaborate across business and IT teams.
• Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet defence security requirements

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

• Tertiary education in IT or Business Management.
• Experience with Business (continuous) Improvement methodologies – (eg Lean+, Six Sigma etc)  
• 5+ years as an IT or systems business analyst with strong documentation and presentation skills.
• 7+ years collaborating with customers, peers, and leadership.
• Experience in infrastructure, systems, and business transformation projects.
• Skilled in project scoping, planning, and estimation.
• Knowledge of information/cyber security best practices.
