The Senior Director, Human Resources is a strategic, enterprise-level HR leader reporting in to the SVP of Huma Resources responsible for shaping and executing people strategies that drive organizational performance, culture, and long-term growth across Generac.
This role partners closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment between talent strategies and business objectives while leading large-scale initiatives across the full employee lifecycle. The Senior Director will operate within a highly matrixed, global, multi-site corporate environment, requiring the ability to influence across regions, functions, and leadership levels.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership
Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on all human capital matters
Lead HR strategy across multiple functions, regions, and business units
Influence organizational effectiveness, engagement, retention, and long-term workforce strategy
Drive alignment of people strategies with enterprise business priorities in a complex, matrixed environment
Talent Management & Leadership Development
Oversee enterprise talent strategy, including leadership development and succession planning
Build and scale leadership capability across global teams
Strengthen bench strength and organizational readiness for future growth
Organizational Design & Workforce Planning
Lead organizational design initiatives aligned to business transformation and growth
Drive workforce planning strategies using data and analytics across multiple sites and regions
Support leaders in optimizing structure, roles, and capabilities
Employee & Labor Relations
Ensure compliance with HR policies, employment law, and risk mitigation practices
Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations issues and investigations
Lead labor relations strategy, including union partnerships, contract administration, and negotiations (as applicable)
Mergers, Acquisitions & Transformation
Lead HR integration efforts for M&A activities, including onboarding, culture alignment, and organizational integration
Drive change management initiatives tied to transformation efforts across the enterprise
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the connective link between HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence (COEs), and the business
Ensure alignment of HR programs, communication, and execution across geographies and functions
Lead or contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives, governance forums, and strategic HR programs
Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing HR team supporting regional or functional business groups
Set clear expectations and foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
Manage performance through coaching, feedback, and recognition
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline
Experience
12+ years of progressive HR experience
5+ years in senior HR leadership roles
Demonstrated experience leading HR strategy in a highly matrixed, global, multi-site corporate environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proven ability to influence and partner with executive leadership
Strong expertise in HR operations, talent management, and employee relations
Deep understanding of organizational design and workforce planning
Experience applying analytics to enterprise workforce trends
Strong change management and transformation leadership capability
Advanced communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree (HR, MBA, or related field)
Certifications
SPHR or SHRM-SCP
Experience
Experience in unionized environments
M&A integration experience
Exposure to manufacturing or operations environments
Additional Capabilities
Experience implementing new HR technologies and driving adoption
Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-enabled HR tools (talent analytics, automation platforms) to improve workforce planning and efficiency
