This position is a hybrid role with locations that include Washington DC, Fredericksburg, VA, San Jose/San Francisco, CA, Seattle WA.
The ideal applicant would be skilled in managing large programs/initiatives, would be highly technical and drive the sales experience. We are looking for a committed, experienced, and energetic individual to join our growing product team. This is a collaborative leadership role accountable for program management and focused on improving and building the best-in-class sales experience.
In this position you will be a single threaded owner working across stakeholders within technology, business, product management and design to help build and execute. A strong understanding of front-end experience, capabilities, and downstream services that support everyday sales needs across all channels and insurance product offerings. Demonstrate the ability to roll up your sleeves and dig deep while influencing organizational change through proper scoping, process improvements and positive team culture.
The Idea candidate is excellent at:
Building and leading multiple high-performing teams that are cross-functional; coaching skills are a must. Excellent candidates have led initiatives that involve multiple sprint teams, hosted cross-team planning with business, product, design and tech, and understand how to work in a matrixed org with dependencies and competing goals
Prioritization & monitoring with the Line of Business teams such as auto, home, specialty lines, personal and commercial to ensure execution of strategic product priorities. Working across other stakeholders to ensure seamless execution initiatives developed across the portfolios.
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, a change leader that challenges and continuously improves existing processes and procedures, as well as a subject matter expert in personal lines, commercial lines, program management and compliance.
Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to conduct analysis and drive data driven decisions.
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of initiatives and make data-driven decisions to optimize them for the insurance platform
Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation and translate them into actionable plans and prototypes.
Define, develop and manage product artifacts such as Vision, Strategy, Roadmap, Experimentation Plans and ability to de-compose into Epics & Features.
Leading a team through change and understanding when to dive into the details, write requirements (as needed) and lead cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions and business results through elegant UI, APIs, services, business rules, partner integrations and other modern architectural solutions
Demonstrating a strong bias for action, partnership, and influence ability. This includes driving prioritization and feature requirement to capabilities teams as well as driving trade-off discussions and decision-making with technical experts and business stakeholders
Coaching and mentoring Product Managers
Knowledge in Underwriting, Rating, and Insurance Product Offerings (i.e., Modeling, Telematics, Product Definition) is a plus.
Define and own the 9-12-month product roadmap to drive priorities for teams taking into consideration value creation and cost to create value
Oversee product rollout plan, segmentation, product adoption and opportunities for product promotion
Partner with Technology leaders to influence end-state architecture and drive secure, resilient, performant, and scalable product solutions that solve material customer and business problems
Leverages agile metrics to understand product management's contribution to agile teams and identify potential opportunities for improvement
Nurture, develop and define career paths to help product managers identify opportunities for growth and achieve measurable goals.
Basic Qualification:
8+ years’ experience with product leadership positions and proven accomplishments
8+ years of experience with translating customer and business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products
6+ years in agile product management
6+ years leading, mentoring, and coaching product manager
Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Qualification
Insurance industry experience preferred and customer first mindset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to influence across the organization
Passion for coaching and mentoring and building high performing teams
High sense of accountability and strong problem-solving skills
Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions and drive change.
Identify options and recommendations identifying trade-offs with other leaders to remove impediments for the team
Deliver value in an iterative way focusing on the minimum viable product and regularly report on product performance, highlighting wins and opportunities.
Annual Salary
$143,000.00 - $224,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
