Senior Associate, Robotics
The Research & Development Department’s mission is to set the industry standard by finding new materials, methods, and technology to change the built environment and how we work. We are looking for dynamic, innovative, and passionate team members to join us in our movement to change our industry.
The R&D Robotics Senior Associate will serve as the Operations Lead responsible for developing and executing a deployment strategy that will drive adoption and scaling of robotics solutions to transform the experience of our project teams. This team member will support robotics initiatives from concept through completion and coordinate across interdisciplinary teams, including project teams, consultants, hardware developers, software developers, subcontractors, and suppliers. They will support defining use cases, developing integrated solutions, coordinating field deployments, and documenting results and learnings. This team member will report to the R&D Robotics Lead and serve on an interdisciplinary team conducting research and developing novel robotics solutions for construction.
The ideal candidate will have strong entrepreneurial instincts, product-focused mindset, highly organized, and capable of working independently to execute complex projects. Candidates should be passionate about both robotics and construction, able to learn outside of their trained competency quickly, and excited to roll up their sleeves when needed. Key to this position are strong written and verbal communication skills, project management skills, creative thinking, relationship management, and meticulous attention to detail. Most importantly, candidates should be curious and excited about operating in new territory without fear of failure.
Responsibilities
Lead efforts to establish processes and policies that lay the foundation for growing and scaling robotics solutions across our jobsites
Build relationships across operations, site operations, and subcontractors to understand their needs, develop goals, and ensure that robotics initiatives are aligned to their needs
Drive product design and user experience improvements
Establish a clear value proposition and conduct return on investment (ROI) analysis to quantify costs, savings, and benefits of new and existing robotics use cases
Define aspirational objectives, measurable goals, metrics, and analyses to inform and track progress against the robotics roadmap
Create documentation for robotics policies and processes including best practices, standard operating procedures, safety policies, tutorials, and training materials
Develop a strategy and processes for managing and maintaining a growing fleet of robots
Support evaluation of new vendors by managing pilot project scopes, budgets, goals, evaluation metrics, and lessons learned
Support the Robotics Lead in establishing the overall robotics strategy by informing considerations around deployment, operations, and use cases
Support the testing and evaluation of robotics solutions in the field to identify improvements to the user experience and identify new use cases
Act as brand ambassador for the firm, representing the company in industry and professional organizations
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university in a field related to robotics, engineering, commercial construction, architecture, or construction administration
8+ years of professional experience in product management, robotics, engineering, commercial construction, architecture, or construction administration
4+ Years of experience in product management, developing technology roadmaps, and go-to-market strategies
Ability to demonstrate strong entrepreneurial instincts and a product-focused mindset
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize tasks across multiple projects
Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders and strong interpersonal skills
Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to work independently
Ability to effectively communicate complex technical topics in written and verbal formats to various audiences
Preference for candidates with additional relevant experience with robotics hardware, software, or integration, CAD design, geospatial surveying, reality capture, construction design, management, and/or BIM coordination software
