Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and counseling to colleagues across the business and functional divisions on labor and employment and commercial matters.  Work cross-functionally with various control functions to provide seamless support to the business.  
  • Review termination requests and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Develop/update policies and guidelines in collaboration with human resources personnel and other labor and employment counsel.
  • Manage employment and labor matters in Mexico, including overseeing outside counsel on litigation, advising HR on terminations and disciplinary actions, coordinating union/CBA processes, and drafting employment, termination, and labor condition agreements.  
  • Support labor relations and compliance by preparing and updating collective bargaining agreement amendments, overseeing CBA elections, reviewing internal work regulations, and ensuring compliance with current company and site-specific requirements.
  • Provide legal review and training, including reviewing commercial agreements with providers, and developing and implementing HR training on labor and employment topics, along with handling additional ad hoc employment matters.
  • Negotiate and draft various contracts, whether for the purchase or sale of goods, services, or technology.  Counsel the business and functional areas within the company regarding contracts and disputes.  Identify and mitigate risks and advise company leadership on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks, advising senior leadership on preventive measures and risk mitigation strategies, in coordination with regional and global legal teams.
  • Support company leadership and cross-functional teams on strategic projects, initiatives, and special legal matters, ensuring consistency with Medline’s values, policies, and global requirements.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor Degree / equivalent in Mexico (Must be licensed to practice law in Mexico).

Work Experience:

  • 4 or more years of post-law school experience at a law firm or in-house at a corporation.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations of Mexico.

  • Bilingual (Fluent in English).
