The Role

Apollo is seeking a COO to join its highly collegial trading platform, deeply integrated into the firm’s investment process, which has a top tier presence in every asset class across Global Credit.  The candidate will be highly focused on delivering innovative workflow solutions across trading and portfolio management, partnering with cross-functional teams across Credit, Insurance, COO, Technology, and the broader Enterprise Services organization.  Responsibilities will include identifying new opportunities to leverage technology & data, manage the prioritization process for new enhancements & the backlog, and drive usage of new analytical & workflow tools on the desk.  Additionally, the candidate will work closely with senior members of the Trading team on broker relationship management and new business development initiatives in Private Markets.

While the role will be dynamic and multi-faceted, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with either buyside or sell-side traders and/or portfolio managers in a product management/development capacity.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with technology leaders on delivering new functionality via Apollo’s proprietary front office technology platform used by trading and portfolio management teams.
  • Identify new opportunities to leverage technology & data, prioritize resources against new asks, manage KPIs, drive usage/adoption, manage the backlog of requests and present frequent updates to senior management on progress
  • Partner with existing and prospective vendors (e.g. OMS/EMS and Trading Platforms) used across Credit, Rates, Equities, CLO, ABS, Rates & FX trading functions to deliver best-in-class solutions for the trading desk
  • Continuously improve the integration of public and private markets within trading and portfolio management workflows
  • Assist business leads in counterparty relationship function – improving wallet calculation methods for markets related activity, quarterly reporting and identifying key trends in the data
  • Partner with on-desk quants, traders and PMs to identify gaps and opportunities leverage our data to better improve investment making and trading decisions
  • Support senior members of the Investment Team COO group in the evaluation and implementation of new business activities for Apollo, including new funds/product development, business line extensions, platforms and partnerships.
  • Partner with Operations & Compliance to ensure processes and KPIs are held to the highest standards
  • Coordinate across Apollo on new business initiatives, acting as a liaison between investment teams and other functions (Apollo Capital Solutions, operations, compliance, finance, human capital and legal).
  • Manage periodic business reviews to ensure connectivity and alignment between senior management and partner-level leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong track record of delivering new technology & analytical solutions to trading and/or portfolio managers (workflow solutions, OMS/EMS, data analytics tools, etc)
  • 5-8 years of experience at a top tier asset manager, investment bank or trading technology vendor
  • Markets expertise, with a preference for Corporate Credit or Asset-Backed Finance experience
  • Candidates must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, rigorous and highly dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical skills: Advanced in Excel and familiarity with coding (Python or other languages) and large datasets a plus
  • Strong knowledge and experience using Electronic Trading and OMS/EMS platforms
  • Genuine interest in corporate strategy and business building within the investment management industry with an emphasis on hands-on implementation of growth plans.
  • Consummate team player with a strong desire to help optimize and grow Apollo’s expanding Credit business.
  • Strong modeling and problem-solving skills with detail orientation and an exceptional analytical skillset.
  • Desire to take initiative and ownership – must demonstrate a proactive, positive attitude toward given tasks.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to execute projects on a small, nimble team.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong record of high academic achievement.

Pay Range

$200,000 or $250,000 DOE

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location.
