The Associate at Northwestern Mutual Investment Management Company in Milwaukee, WI will develop analytical tools and perform analysis to support Northwestern Mutual’s spread lending business. Provide analytical support regarding spread lending program profitability, current market opportunities, development, and evaluation of asset-liability management strategies. Develop and maintain dynamic spread lending inforce portfolio dashboard summarizing risk exposure and liability. Support spread lending inforce projections and new business pricing. Participate in evaluation and selection of new projection model. Provide analytical support for strategic asset allocation process of various accounts. Develop data visualizations to help tell story. Prepare materials and marketing of funding agreement-backed note issuances to investors. Prepare materials to support communications with policyowners, clients, and field. Utilize understanding of financial markets, credit fundamentals, and macroeconomic data. Apply understanding of investment management process, asset classes, investment risk framework, and investment objectives for spread lending program and other accounts. Further develop understanding of insurance products, economic capital, and liability characteristics. Utilize Bloomberg and Aladdin. Advance data analytic efforts that support spread lending business and other strategic investment initiatives. Support investment banking and dealer relations. Develop strong partner relationships, facilitating communication, information, and spreading lending opportunities. Review and analyze bank and dealer strengths. Support business allocation strategy across banks and dealers. Support investment strategy team involvement in financial planning projections, including business plan and mid-year forecast. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Salary $124,426- $130,000 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Financial Engineering, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field plus 3 years (or a Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years) of experience as a risk analyst or in a related occupation. Experience must include 3 years with each of the following: (1) fixed income investments, structured assets, derivatives, or asset-liability management; (2) fixed income and derivative markets, valuation, and principles; (3) interest rate and asset-liability management risk statistics as related to asset and liability securities and portfolios; (4) risk capital for financial securities or insurers; (5) Bloomberg or Aladdin; and (6) applying advanced programming languages including Python or R.
