Position Summary

NASB is tasked with building consumer services at a global scale. NASB Engineering is creating software solutions that is driving growth in ad based services and streaming compelling media to all Samsung screens (TVs, phones, tablets, PCs, refrigerators, plus more). The backend engineer will be individually architecting, coding, and deploying modules to our existing AWS backend for current media services. They will be supporting NASB Tech Integrator with several key components for live channels.

Role and Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

• Implement back-end architecture components, tasks, and services to support TV Plus server side ad insertion, linearization, ad markers, etc.
• Conduct engineering activities, projects, research and/or operational tests in conformance to functional specifications, design requirements, operational capacities and customer performance expectations.

• Debug Production issues raised by customers and customer support teams, isolate the cause and work towards a fix.
• Participate in meetings with other staff members to evaluate, plan, and troubleshoot; and to ensure proper interface between software, systems and operational performance.
• Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
• Algorithm development, back-end automation, problem solving and scalability architecture

Skills and Qualifications

Job Experience and Knowledge

• 10+ years of software development experience in a large scale Production environment
• Bachelors/Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Ability to solve problems in a fast paced and dynamic environment with focus on maintaining high quality and standards.
• Proficient with AWS, Git, Docker, Kubernetes is a must.
• Experience working with HLS or Dash workflows, FFMPEG, AWS Elemental Media Services experiences all are a plus.
• Experience working with Ad Tech: Ad Decisioning, VAST, OpenRTB, ad stitching are all a plus
• Proficient working with interpreted languages such as: Python, Javascript, and/or Typescript
• Proficient working with strongly typed languages such as: Go, C, C++, Java, Zig or Rust
• Proficient with process memory management
• Experience with web backend frameworks such as Django, Express, Fast API, Gin-Gonic, Drogon, etc.
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed architecture
• Frontend Development, Full Stack experience is a plus
• Able to communicate in writing, through email and reports, or orally complex technical matters to an audience of equal or higher level technical competency.
• Strong understanding of security and privacy compliance
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Ability to deliver and accept feedback on code and design
• Strong experience working in a Unix or Linux system
• Strong ability to debug unfamiliar distributed architectures and isolate problems
• Experience in writing tests for the code written
• Experience in CI/CD and automation preferred

• Consumer of TV content with a keen eye for what works in the OTT space.
• Normally receives general instructions on routine work with detailed instructions on new projects or assignments

Compensation for this role, for candidates based in Los Angeles, LA, is expected to be between $175,000 ~ $195,000.  Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
