Job Title: Logistics Line Runner
Salary:  starting £28,969.63 and rising to £30,45048 / H19/N19

Contract: Permanent

Location: Desford, Leicestershire

The Opportunity
As a Line Runner, you’ll be part of the logistics team delivering parts and components to build Building Construction Products (BCP) machines. You’ll manage exceptions and urgent requests, communicate with internal customers, record key information, investigate root causes, and support problem-solving activities. You’ll work to customer-defined tact times and production sequences while using lean manufacturing tools to keep production moving efficiently.


What You Will Do:
As Line Runner, your accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow clear work instructions to keep production running smoothly and to the right standards.

  • Support the team during absences and cover the Team Leader role when required.

  • Train and coach team members so everyone works safely and correctly.

  • Enter and check data in Excel and other systems, investigate issues, and help find solutions.

  • Keep the work area safe and tidy by following 5S and Health & Safety rules.

  • Take part in training and follow Caterpillar’s values: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork, and Safety.

What Skills You Will Have:

  • Logistics Knowledge: Basic understanding of logistics processes and inventory accuracy to keep operations running smoothly.

  • Accuracy & Attention to Detail: High accuracy for data entry and checking information to prevent errors.

  • Communication & Teamwork: Good communication skills to work with different teams and follow instructions clearly.

  • Flexibility & Learning: Willingness to work different shifts and take part in training to learn new skills.

What You May Have:

  • Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate others, support team coordination, and step in to provide guidance or direction when required. Strong decision‑making and communication skills to help keep work flowing smoothly.

  • Process & Project Skills: Understanding of continuous improvement methods (e.g., Six Sigma principles) and basic project coordination. Able to use structured problem‑solving techniques to support productivity, quality, and efficiency improvements.

  • Technical Skills: Ability to interpret how parts and components fit together, with confidence in reading and understanding a Bill of Materials (BOM). Ensures accurate checking and preparation of the correct components required for production.
