Job Description

Responsible for managing day to day RIC tax work, client timelines & deliverable dates. Reviews tax work prepared by others, including fiscal tax provisions, excise tax provisions, tax returns and ICI primary/secondary/NRA for various fund families and various fund types including RICs, ETFs, CEFs, and BDCs. Serves as the primary contact for correspondence with clients, regulatory agencies and auditors, responding to their requests. Leads and develops a team of 1-3 direct reports who may prepare and/or review tax work.  Handles tax technical issues as they arise and consults with other tax supervisors and managers on these issues as they arise.

  • Routinely handle assigned client calls & correspondences.
  • Manage day to day RIC tax work, client timelines & meet deliverable dates including reviews of:
    • FYE tax provisions
    • Excise year-end tax provisions and determining excise distribution requirements
    • Forms 1120-RIC, 8613, and state filings
    • ICI Primary
    • FBAR reporting
  • Strong communication skills among team members.
  • Strong advocate for updating tax technical processes & procedures.
  • Strong writing/e-mail skills.
  • Ability to identify areas of risk.
  • Contribute to tax policies and procedures as needed.
  • Be part of the tax team training initiatives and conduct tax team trainings.
  • Mentor tax technical skills for grade levels 10, 11, & 12.
  • Solution oriented “can do” approach and mentality.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
- CPA certified or candidate
- Eight or more years of experience in Mutual Fund Administration or related field, i.e., public accounting

Preferred Skills/Experience
- Ideally 5-8+ years of RIC tax experience.
- Thorough knowledge of operational issues involving Mutual Funds
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of legal, regulatory and accounting principles which directly affect the mutual fund industry and their clients
- Ability to successfully coordinate and follow through on short/long-term projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of PC applications
- Proven relationship building skills

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $98,175.00 - $115,500.00
