The Role

The Fibre Project Delivery Manager sits at the centre of pre-sales feasibility, commercial validation and full build delivery ownership for our UK duct and fibre infrastructure programme.
This role leads opportunities from early-stage design and cost validation through to full infrastructure deployment and operational handover. The successful candidate ensures solutions are technically sound, commercially optimised, compliant, and delivered with discipline.
Acting as the bridge between Sales, Sales Engineering, NetDev and Delivery teams, this individual influences solution design, challenges cost assumptions, shapes supplier performance, and ensures what is sold is deliverable and cost-aware.
This is a hands-on delivery leadership role with strategic influence — requiring credibility with field engineering teams, confidence with pre-Sales teams, and commercial strength with suppliers.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead technical feasibility and cost validation for new duct and fibre build opportunities, ensuring solutions are deliverable, commercially optimised and cost-aware before commitment.
  • Partner with Sales, Sales Engineering and NetDev to challenge and refine route design, scope and build methodology to drive cost avoidance and reduce delivery risk.
  • Own full lifecycle delivery of metro and long-haul fibre infrastructure projects, from governance and scheduling through to build execution and operational handover.
  • Drive strong programme control across budget, forecasting, risk, change and performance reporting, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • Lead contractor performance management, commercial discipline and productivity improvement, while contributing to supplier strategy, benchmarking and framework optimisation.
  • Identify and implement cost saving and cost avoidance initiatives across feasibility and delivery phases.
  • Ensure full compliance with CDM, HSWA, NRSWA and statutory requirements, maintaining robust documentation and data integrity standards.
  • Define and embed consistent delivery governance, reporting frameworks and portfolio-level performance standards.
  • Lead and mentor Fibre Project Delivery Engineers, driving accountability, commercial awareness and consistent delivery excellence.

Team structure:

  • You will be providing guidance and support to Fibre Project Delivery Engineers, external contractors as well as various internal functions.
  • You will receive guidance and support from the UK Field Services Manager and team colleagues.

What do we want from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Civil Engineering, Communications, Networking, Electronics, Computer Systems) or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years experience managing the complete lifecycle of large-scale telecoms duct and fibre infrastructure projects.
  • Strong pre-sales feasibility and commercial exposure.
  • Demonstrable cost saving and contractor management capability.
  • Deep understanding of fibre build processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Strong programme governance and executive reporting experience.
