What success looks like in this role:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of GL Accountants
- Allocate work, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance reviews
- Drive a strong control, compliance, and continuous improvement culture
- Support talent development, succession planning, and team capability building
General Ledger Oversight
- Oversee end-to-end GL accounting for assigned Regions covering both balance sheet, P&L and Corporate Controls review – across all areas of the balance sheet
- Review and approve critical and complex accounting entries
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the General Ledger
- Own timely and high-quality month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Lead the team for consolidated QAR & BSR reviews, proactively supporting Regional Directors
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with IFRS / US GAAP / Ind AS (as applicable)
- Review financial statements and supporting schedules
- Own SOX/internal controls for GL processes and ensure control effectiveness
- Lead internal and external audit engagements and address audit findings
- Lead migration and stabilization of GL processes into the COE
- Standardize accounting processes across regions and entities
- Drive automation, simplification, and digitization initiatives
- Identify and implement best practices and continuous improvement projects
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with cross functional teams such as AP, AR, Tax, Treasury, and Business Finance teams.
- Communicate financial issues, risks, and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.
Effective communication skills expressed through conversation, Emails, instructing, written memos, written work instructions and flow charts
You will be successful in this role if you have:
Education
- Professional Accounting qualification: CA / CPA / CMA / ACCA
Experience
- 8 years of experience in General Ledger accounting
- Preferred at least 5 years of people management experience
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in GL accounting and financial close
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP Accounting standards & regional consolidations
- Strong presentation skills including the ability to successfully represent data.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, etc.)
- Excel and Exposure to reporting/automation tools
Leadership & Behavioral Skills
- Strong people leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive approach to Change Management and process improvements
