About the unit

2 West is comprised of a 23 bed Med/Surg Unit and a 23 bed Post- Surgical Unit. We have a very friendly staff who are welcoming and willing to mentor new RNs. We handle medium to high acuity patients with a 5 to 6 patient ratio. Our team is passionate about patient care and shared governance.

Scope of work

Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department.

Qualifications

A. Education / Training:

· Minimum requirement: Associates Degree in Nursing, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or MSN preferred.

B. Work Experience:

· Two (2) years of nursing experience required. Participation in leadership activities (Unit, hospital or system Shared Governance meetings, Precepting, Charge nurse role, etc.,) preferred.

C. Certification, Licensure, Registration:

· Current RN in State of Michigan required.

D. Other Qualifications:

· Nursing Certification in specialty area preferred.
