Position: VP, US Commercial Finance

Location: Princeton Pike, NJ


Position Summary

The role of the VP Commercial Finance leads an organization that is responsible for overseeing and managing the finance activities for a dynamic portfolio of innovative medicines that totals over $30B in sales.  This role plays a critical role in driving performance, delivering strategic analysis and providing business insights to support decision making and inform on business performance.  This role works in close collaboration with Commercial leaders to enable delivery of targets for revenue and operating expenses for both in-line and new product pipeline.  The Vice President of US Commercial Finance  reports to the SVP of Finance for Total Commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements financial strategies to support the company's growth and productivity objectives
  • Anticipates business trends, assesses risks and recommends alternative solutions and contingency plans to ensure meeting financial and business objectives
  • Develops the leadership and management talent needed to achieve competitive superiority
  • Functions as a member of the Commercial Finance LT
  • Leads the US Finance team leadership team and broader US finance organization
  • Establishes and maintains internal controls on the operation as per BMS policies and statutory requirements
  • Is primary representative of US finance unit around the company & communicates effectively
  • Can build relationships with and influence leaders across the US Commercial business and broader matrix
  • Provides timely information and analysis in the form of options for clear and swift decision-making
  • Drives appropriate differentiation in resource allocation
  • Builds business analysis financial models for evaluating business opportunities
  • Communicates across functions and geographies to drive achievement of financial and business objectives
  • Partners with Commercial, Medical, Access, and Other Market teams by providing strategic financial insight and decision support
  • Contributes to the strategic planning process by providing the commercial team with insightful financial analysis to help identify strategic choices and drive decision making
  • Drives cash flow analytics and assists market in achieving cash flow goals
  • Consolidates and maintains analytical support for continuous productivity savings

Qualifications & Experience:

  • B.S./B.A., MBA, CPA preferred
  • Experience of working in a multinational Finance environment for at least 10 years and in a managerial position for at least 5 years.
  • Pharma industry knowledge
  • Leadership of a complex multi-functional finance team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Ability to interact and influence Senior Management across the business.  Strong presentation skills.
  • Track record of achieving results in a matrix organization. Strong in alignment and collaboration. Flexibility & adaptability.
  • External financial interactions/negotiations.  Experience in alliance relationship.
  • Development and successful implementation of a global/regional initiatives.
  • Mastery of financial analysis, modeling, processes (budget, strategic planning) sufficient to train and develop others.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, distribution, and marketing processes.
  • Thorough understanding of operational business strategies and issues.
