PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Ensures company materials are in compliance with federal regulations-specifically those dealing with US Customs and Border Protection, US International Trade Commission, and identifying and implementing efficiencies. Monitors, initiates and maintains employee’s safety training, forklift, DOT certification, company policies and procedure updating for employee files.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the daily operations of the team, including but not limited to: establishing mutual goals, assigning tasks and maintaining schedules.
  • Ensures compliance of FDA, Department of Transportation and US International Trade regulations.
  • Monitors, initiates and maintains employees training and certification files.
  • Classifies import/export goods and maintain compliance with federal regulations.
  • Composes and prepares documents for review by federal agencies.
  • Maintains, coordinates, tracks and analyzes all inbound/outbound shipments, including working with carriers and third party logistics providers. Maximizes the cost effectiveness of this function.
  • Assists the Purchasing Department in coordinating the logistics of supplier agreements.
  • Assists logistics in optimizing freight cost using point-to-point backhaul.
  • Assists in planning and coordinating department logistics and complies with Corporate Resupply logistics.
  • Negotiates new and/or comply with logistics contracts, e.g., DHL.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, and quarterly management reports as required.
  • Develops, reviews and updates departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintains general housekeeping of working area and plant.
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching and counseling employees, including performance reviews, disciplinary action and terminations. 
  • Interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups.  Interaction normally involves the exchange or presentation of factual information.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by a direct supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION:
May be responsible for the direct supervision of Class ‘A’ drivers.

EDUCATION:
Bchelor’s Degree required; in lieu of degree additional years of experience and/or education may be considered.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:      

  • 2 – 3 years’ experience as an individual contributor senior role; or 1 – 3 years’ experience as a Supervisor.
  • APICS Certificate program preferred.
  • Experience in Supply Chain and Database Management preferred.
  • Ability to apply office software applications to work responsibilities and effectively coordinate teams throughout various departments, corporate, other FMC facilities and entities.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
  • Proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office applications.
