The Coordinator, Respiratory Care will be responsible for staffing of the department, monitor daily workload and adjust staffing as needed. In conjunction with the Respiratory Care Manager, the Coordinator will work with clinical staff to develop systems and procedures necessary for efficient clinical operations and provide training, information and support required by employees to solve problems to enable high quality, efficient patient care.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides staff with the necessary training, information and support to solve problems and improve operations at the staff level.
Coordinate the daily operations of the department, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they occur. Assist with scheduling, coaching, training, hiring and yearly performance assessment.
Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
Perform as a role model and consistently demonstrate an advanced level of expertise and enhanced communication skills.
Provides direct patient care 80% of time.
Will be the first contact person for staff of all disciplines in the absence of the Respiratory Care Manager.
Maintains a high level of knowledge related to the department and seeks opportunities to enhance professional growth.
Recommends process improvement initiatives to the Respiratory Manager and assists staff in implementation of these initiatives.
Builds effective relationships across work groups by treating fellow employees with courtesy, respect and inclusiveness; maintains a positive attitude and takes responsibility for assignments.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting up to two hours per day-1 hour increments. Standing up to 6 hours per day-1 hour increments. Walking up to 4 hours per day-15 minute increments. Frequently uses fingers to manipulate small vials, equipment, etc. Continuous use of hands for writing and operating respiratory equipment. Continuous twisting/turning of hands and body to provide patient care. Occasional lifting of boxed and equipment up to 25 pounds. Frequent carrying objects/equipment up to 25 pounds. Frequent pushing/pulling of equipment or patients up to 300 pounds. Frequent stooping/bending. Occasional crouching. Occasional reaching above shoulder. Ability to palpate arteries, feel skin temperature, etc. Hearing as it relates to normal, high and low frequencies. Seeing as it relates to general, far, near, color and peripheral vision. Depth perception.
EDUCATION:
Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of Pennsylvania. Valid license to practice respiratory care in the state of PA. BLS, ACLS, PALS required. NRP certification required for campuses that have a NICU. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Five years previous experience as a Respiratory Therapist. Knowledge of clinical settings, program development and evaluation. Strong oral and written communication skill/ excellent leadership skills and a willingness to lead by example.
