The Business Analyst position entails working directly with customers in understanding their business processes, gathering their business requirements, conducting analysis for requested changes or project requirements, documenting, diagramming, and presenting to various stakeholder groups, and facilitating buy-in and consensus.

We Require

  • One year of professional experience performing business analysis, including experience serving as a liaison between business users, stakeholders, or operational partners and an IT or technical organization

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Job-related experience may substitute for minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

  • Project Management Institute Professional Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) certification

Job Contributions

  • Develop and promote good business relationships; prioritize work, and coordinate activities with internal customers and IT colleagues, acting as an advisor to business partners, shaping strategy to ensure successful requirements are gathered, and ensuring customers are aware of IT service offerings

  • Gather high-level business requirements and defines scope during initial discovery by conducting meetings/interviews and facilitating large group/cross-functional sessions with partners, translating high-level business needs

  • Define project scope and intended ROI, including resource requirements, constraints, benefits, and risk (business process- and technology-based), to analyze the feasibility of and develop requirements for new systems or enhancements to existing systems to ensure the system design fits the needs of the users

  • Conduct research and analysis for recommendations for best practices, products, and standards to improve major business processes. Provide consulting support on a broad range of information technology matters and issues to enterprise customers to maximize technology investments

  • Build business cases and identify programs to measure benefits, particularly productivity-related, to ensure value is being added consistent with enterprise productivity goals, and establish initial vendor relationships and maintain a forward-looking view of vendor direction

  • Measure the effectiveness of information technology initiatives and assist executive management in monitoring and evaluating information technology performance

  • Participate in the development of business strategic planning and IT strategic planning to assess brand-new applications of computer and communication technology to determine potential value for the enterprise

  • Gather and promote business projects and values to the IT leaders, justice partners, and other stakeholders

  • Communicate business needs with the appropriate IT solution center to gain alignment between business needs and technical capabilities

Working Conditions

  • This position is eligible for hybrid flexibility after a brief training period

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, or requires walking or standing to a significant degree

  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
