In this role, you will lead the data science and AI capability for Global Markets, shaping how predictive models and agentic systems are designed, adopted and scaled across the business. You will combine deep technical credibility with strong commercial judgement to deliver impact in fast‑moving, high‑stakes environments.

Global Markets plays a critical role in supporting institutional and corporate clients across trading, risk management and liquidity provision. As markets become more data‑driven and automated, AI is central to sustaining competitive advantage while meeting regulatory and risk expectations.

You will lead a chapter of data scientists working across:

• Global Markets Sales & Trading
• The Institutional Banking & Markets data platform
• Non‑Financial Risk, including controls, surveillance and responsible AI

You will report into the AI Lead for IB&M, working closely with Markets leadership, technology, risk, and Group AI partners to align vision, delivery and governance.

Your impact

• Set the vision and thought leadership for data science, predictive AI and agentic AI within Global Markets
• Lead the adoption of AI tools across Sales & Trading
• Translate Global Markets strategy into a clear AI roadmap with measurable commercial, risk and productivity outcomes
• Ensure AI solutions are designed and deployed with strong model risk management and responsible AI practices

Key responsibilities:

End‑to‑end model ownership

• Own the full model lifecycle for Global Markets data science and AI solutions
• Work directly with business leaders and front‑line teams to translate commercial and risk problems into well‑defined analytical use cases
• Be accountable for model quality and evaluation, including validation approaches, performance metrics, stress testing and ongoing monitoring

Strategy & leadership

• Define and communicate a clear strategy for predictive AI and agentic AI aligned to Global Markets priorities
• Act as a senior thought leader for AI across Global Markets, influencing executives, domain leads and crew leads
• Build, lead and coach a high‑performing chapter of data scientists, setting high standards for craft, impact and ethics

Delivery, engineering & production

• Lead the design and development of predictive models and agentic AI solutions across trading, sales, analytics and risk use cases
• Partner closely with engineering and platform teams to ensure solutions are production‑ready, scalable, secure and observable
• Establish clear hand‑offs, shared accountabilities and ways of working between data science, engineering and technology

Adoption & value realisation

• Drive adoption of AI tools and models, ensuring solutions are embedded into day‑to‑day workflows and decision‑making
• Measure and track realised value, including commercial uplift, risk reduction and productivity outcomes

Risk & governance

• Own the AI risk posture for the chapter, partnering closely with Non‑Financial Risk
• Ensure model development and evaluation meet model risk management, validation and responsible AI standards
• Balance innovation with regulatory, conduct and reputational considerations
• Collaboration
• Work closely with Sales & Trading leaders, domain leads and crew leads to shape the overall AI strategy for Global Markets
• Partner with the Markets data platform and Group AI teams to align tooling, patterns and standards
• Contribute to the broader AI and Data Science community across IB&M, sharing patterns, tools and lessons learned

Skills and experience

Leadership

• Proven experience leading senior data science or AI teams in complex, regulated environments
• Strong track record influencing executives and driving adoption of new analytical capabilities

Technical depth

• Deep expertise in predictive modelling, machine learning and statistical techniques
• Hands‑on experience delivering agentic AI and generative AI solutions in production
• Strong understanding of data platforms, model lifecycle management and AI governance

Markets & risk mindset

• Experience working with or alongside Sales & Trading, Markets analytics, or risk teams
• Commercial judgement to balance speed, value and risk in high‑pressure environments
