Job Summary:

The Assistant Vice President of Cancer Services is accountable for providing strategic leadership and direction for the Cancer Center of Georgia, leading day-to-day operations at all CCG sites. This position has a leadership role in building relationships, coordinating patient care, and creating and sustaining a positive context for the cancer program. This individual is also responsible for effectively interacting with other functional units within AU Health System. This position serves as the programmatic leader and is responsible to the Vice President/Chief Operating Officer.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1. Conducts evaluations to produce operational best-demonstrated practices. Analyzes and evaluates site- specific operational processes and recommends improvements based on results. Actively participates in the implementation of operational improvement plans with the goal of providing best practice clinical care in all AUHS cancer sites.

2. Develops, implements, and monitors all aspects of the CCG operating budget, ensuring alignment with AU Health Systems (AUHS) strategic objectives. Actively contributes to the planning and development of new ambulatory businesses within the community. Participates in the AUMA Committees where applicable.

3. In conjunction with the Medical Director of CCG and the COO of AUMA, provides recommendations for improvements and areas of growth. Provides expertise in the preparation and understanding of complex analytical and financial reports. Prepares monthly budget variance reports for senior leadership.

4. Assists in the execution of business plans as approved by the AU/AU Health System leadership. Develops appropriate internal and external relationships to maximize each CCG ambulatory practice site's effectiveness. Facilitates problem-solving across organizational units that support services provided.

5. Works with leadership to maximize income generation, financial growth, and ambulatory services at all CCG sites.

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Business Administration/Management or Bachelors Health Administration or Bachelors Other
  • Masters Business Administration/Management or Masters Health Administration


Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.






    Required Minimum Experience:

    Minimum 10 years or more of experience in cancer or clinical service operations and performance improvement, with at least 3 years of demonstrated progressive management experience with increasing scope of responsibility. Required
    Minimum 15 years cancer service operations and performance improvement, with at least 5 years of demonstrated progressive management experience with increasing scope of responsibility. Preferred
