Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of DevOps principles, cloud architecture, and on-premise infrastructure. This role requires someone who can design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and high-performance systems across both cloud and on-prem environments. The position is based in Turin, Italy.

Accountabilities

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated DevOps, Cloud, and On-Prem Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing, managing, and optimizing cloud and on-premise infrastructures, and a deep understanding of DevOps practices. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure the seamless operation of our systems and contribute to the continuous improvement of our infrastructure.

 Responsibilities include:

• Infrastructure Management:
  • Implement and manage scalable, secure, and efficient cloud and on-premise infrastructures.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery for critical systems.

• DevOps Practices:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment processes.
  • Monitor and manage configuration management tools to maintain system consistency.
  • Automate routine tasks to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

• Cloud Operations:
  • Manage cloud resources across Azure environments.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost, performance, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with security and data privacy standards in the cloud environment.

• On-Premises Operations:
  • Maintain and optimize on-premise servers, storage, and network infrastructure.
  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot on-premise systems to ensure optimal performance.

• Collaboration:
  • Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure smooth system operations.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and provide input on system design and improvements.
  • Assist in mentoring and training junior team members on best practices and new technologies.

• Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions for proactive issue detection.
  • Analyze system performance data and optimize infrastructure for efficiency.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents promptly to minimize downtime.

Required Skills/Knowledge

• Experience in DevOps, cloud, and on-premises engineering.
• Experience with cloud platforms and hybrid environments.
• Strong background in CI/CD tools.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Strong knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with networking concepts, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).

Education/Qualifications

Engineering Degree in information technology.
