What You Will Achieve

Lab operations associate in PhRD is the point person in the department for coordinating all laboratory operations and facilities services for the building.  The role is an important support function for the laboratory scientists, making it “easier to get things done”.  Important support functions include but are not limited to: coordinating biologic shipping and receiving, managing and maintaining freezers, cold rooms and incubators, managing laboratory consumables inventory, lab coat laundering, instrument preventative maintenance coordination, facility requirements for new and existing equipment, and pipette calibration through third parties. 

How You Will Achieve It

The responsibilities of the Lab and Facilities Specialist include but are not limited to: 

  • Lead the Departmental Lab Operations team

  • Be responsible for the maintenance of the 5S status within the laboratories

  • Coordinate facilities aspects of the laboratory building

  • Equipment owner – Incubators/freezers/coldrooms

  • Manage On-call procedures for building equipment/personnel

  • Manage laboratory coat inventory for building with 3rd party launderers

  • Coordinate annual on-site pipette calibrations with 3rd party

  • Aid in biological shipment requests

  • Coordinate Managed Inventory Program (MIP) with 3rd party Just-In-Time inventory management partners

  • Lab Site Lead for Capital equipment

  • Coordinate Biological Safety Cabinet maintenance

  • Organize annual or quarterly lab clean outs, freeze/incubator purges

  • Be a member and building representative of the My Green Labs initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must Have

  • Associate of Science degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in scientific laboratory or pharmaceutical industry laboratory or facilities management OR a BS degree with 1 to 2 years of experience in scientific laboratory or pharmaceutical industry laboratory or facilities management

  • Strong attention to detail, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
