The Compliance Investigations Manager in China is responsible for ensuring that Alcon’s operations within China and/or the APAC region comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.  The role involves conducting thorough investigations into potential compliance violations, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and working closely with various stakeholders to maintain a high level of compliance across the business. In this Role, your key resposibilities are:

Compliance Investigations:

Conduct thorough and in-depth investigations into potential compliance violations through the Alcon Ethics Helpline; to include unethical behavior, fraud, corruption, bribery, or other regulatory violations.

Gather evidence through interviews, document review, data analysis, and other appropriate methods.

Prepare comprehensive investigation reports outlining findings.

Collaborate with internal functions such as Legal, Human Resources, Finance, and Global Security to ensure compliance actions are implemented effectively. 

Regulatory Compliance:

Monitoring and awareness of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices within the country / region.

Monitor and analyze changes in regulatory requirements and assess the impact on the organization. 

Advise management on necessary changes or improvements to maintain compliance with applicable regulations. 

Develop and implement compliance training programs to enhance employee awareness of compliance obligations.

Risk Mitigation:

Identify potential compliance risks within Alcon’s operations and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.

Conduct risk assessments and audits / reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls. 

Implement appropriate processes and controls to ensure compliance with Chinese regulations and internal policies. 

Collaborate with relevant functions to ensure necessary corrective actions are taken to address identified risks.

Stakeholder Management:

Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, such as senior management, business units and associates, to promote a strong compliance culture.

Provide guidance and support to business units to proactively address compliance challenges and issues.

Liaise with external stakeholders, including government authorities, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure a collaborative approach to compliance matters.

What you will bring to Alcon:

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Experience: 

Prior experience in compliance investigations, audits, risk management, or a similar field. 

Familiarization with Chinese compliance regulations. 

Experience in anti-bribery and corruption (ABAC / FCPA) investigations is desirable. 

Analytical Skills:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively investigate and identify compliance breaches.

Communication:

Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese to conduct interviews, write comprehensive reports, and collaborate with stakeholders effectively. 

Cultural Awareness:

An understanding of the local business culture and regulatory environment in China to navigate compliance matters and build appropriate controls.

Integrity:

A high level of personal integrity and ethical conduct to maintain objectivity and impartiality during investigations.
