Position Description

Our Staff Engineer is a key member of the Collaboration and Productivity team, working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.

Position Responsibilities 

As a Staff Engineer, you will:

  • Drive projects involving major business productivity suites of platforms such as Microsoft 365 (M365) productivity apps, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Box, etc.
  • Assume service ownership and administration of existing business productivity platform and services
  • Drive enhancement and continuously improve the services and end user experience
  • Implement platform upgrades and feature expansions of existing productivity platforms
  • Work with vendors such as Microsoft, Box to understand technology roadmap and maintain a working relationship with vendors to influence vendor roadmap as per Geico associates needs
  • Define the technical architecture especially with M365 architecture and support the implementation of new services from technical perspective
  • Work closely with various business stake holders including but not limited to, for auditing, content search, cyber security and infrastructure team to ensure platform security and compliance
  • Drive proof of concepts to test new technologies and/or features of collaboration and productivity platforms
  • Assure 24x7 operations and stability of services with regard for end user experience
  • Support the creation of the enterprise level roadmap in terms of productivity for the future business demands
  • Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient systems.
  • Serve as an engineering leader to help make decisions alongside with organizational leadership. Provide knowledge share, coaching, mentoring, and systems training to junior team members as needed
  • Consistently share best practices, and improve processes within and across teams

Qualifications

  • Broad and deep technical knowledge, with M365 architecture and different Microsoft Products such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint and One Drive, Microsoft Purview, MS Project, MS Visio, etc.
  • Broad and deep technical knowledge of other content storage platform such as Box
  • Proficiency in scripting languages and tools like Python, PowerShell scripting to automate administration of platforms and workflows
  • Proficiency in understanding of API, having devops mindset to build custom solutions using Graph API OR REST API to integrate with collaboration and productivity tools.
  • ​Experience with application monitoring tools and performance assessments
  • Experience with protocols and products: understanding of Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Windows Authentication, Workday, SAML, OAuth, Power Automate and Power Apps
  • One or more of the following certifications are highly desired: 
    • Microsoft Solution Architect
    • Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft SharePoint administrator
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience on productivity platforms such as M365, Box, MS SharePoint, MS Exchange, that support productivity apps of portfolio
  • 5+ years of experience with architecture and design
  • 5+ years of experience with scripting and/or API integration development work to automate workflow and/or business processes
  • 3+ year of experience of Box administration preferred
  • 3+ years of experience served as a senior engineer where you are responsible for decision making or influence decision and provide technical direction to organization leaders.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience


 

Annual Salary

$105,000.00 - $230,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
