Position:

Legal Shared Services Manager, Employment (China)

Job Description:

This role oversees centralized legal administrative functions, optimizing workflows, implementing legal technology (e.g., intake, automation), and supporting legal staff to provide efficient support across business units throughout the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, with a strong emphasis on Mainland China.  The role will operate out of the Company’s Shanghai Office. This role requires expertise in legal operations, process improvement, and stakeholder management to drive cost savings and high-value service delivery. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operational Leadership: Manage day-to-day operations of the legal shared services team, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of legal services to internal clients.
  • Legal Support Scope: Support the primary legal contact for employment matters in Mainland China.  Research and track complex and evolving labor laws and regulatory landscape in the country.  Assist with facilitating legal counsel support for employment law advice and compliance in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
  • Templates and forms: Work with attorneys to draft templates, correspondence, reports, and other legal memoranda.
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Identify, develop, and implement workflow automation and legal technology solutions to support global tracking and integration of shared legal templates, legal investigation notes and reports, and other shared legal tasks.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Support legal services with implementing and tracking updates to company policies and practices based on applicable legal regulations and industry standards.
  • Training. Support legal team with scheduling and organizing training for business units.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business units, acting as a liaison to ensure service alignment.
  • KPI Tracking: Establish and monitor performance metrics (KPIs) to evaluate and improve service efficiency. 

What We Are Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related business field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in legal and/or human resource operations, shared services, or similar management roles, preferably within a multinational firm in APAC.
  • Language: Business-level fluency in Mandarin (verbal and written) and English; additional Asian language skills are a plus
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of legal processes, document management, and compliance across various APAC jurisdictions.
  • Technology: Proficiency in legal technology (e.g., Navex, Practical Law, etc.)
