What You Will Do:
The Instructional Design Senior Associate is responsible for designing, developing, authoring and maintenance of training materials. This person works closely with the Learning and Development (L&D) team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design, create and maintain eLearning, blended and instructor-led learning materials.       

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applies adult learning principles and effective eLearning techniques to create instructional design documents, eLearning storyboards and instructor/facilitator/participant materials for online and instructor-led/virtual instructor-led courses

  • Utilizes various authoring and rapid deployment tools to design, develop, author and publish web-based training modules and interactive eLearning courses for any format necessary

  • Writes learning objectives and modules of content that ensure mastery of learning objectives

  • Designs and develops projects from start to finish with minimal supervision to meet deadlines as assigned

  • Produces eye-catching, engaging, streamlined and effective product designs and graphics to visually support learning content

  • Works closely with SMEs and Learning & Development (L&D) team members as needed to share knowledge and maintain a well-organized, timely and high-quality work product

  • Works closely with SMEs/testers to design and develop content, test courseware and troubleshoot issues that may impact design or established deadlines

  • Works with the Learning Management System (LMS) administration team to User Test course items’ launch readiness (for desktop and mobile devices) to confirm functionality and scoring for learner tracking and reporting purposes

  • User Testing includes but is not limited to assigning various learning objects and content to testers, creating and maintaining tester login information as needed, and troubleshooting user issues related to testing

  • Identifies and solves a variety of problems of intermediate scope and complexity

  • Takes responsibility for own actions and works accordingly to get the job done

  • Leads innovation efforts through product development technology, processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness, assisting others in thinking creatively about learning products

  • Maintains a current intermediate to advanced technical skillset with proficiency in software applications applicable to instructional design and development/authoring

  • Assists with the maintenance of current custom eLearning resources and data integrity including regular file back-ups to Authoring Repository and other designated locations/media devices

  • Ensures matters related to client or potential clients are handled in a way that creates positive lasting impressions with high quality, prompt and courteous service by oneself and others

  • Uses Guidehouse branding guidelines, design practices/templates and department procedures for authoring, managing and storing final files

  • Takes on other duties as assigned and as needed with a positive and willing attitude

Technical Skills:

  • Strong instructional design expertise for eLearning and blended learning

  • Strong working knowledge of authoring tools used to create interactive instructional materials such as Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise (required), Adobe Captivate, or Lectora

  • Strong knowledge of integrating video, graphic design visuals and audio in eLearning course development using eLearning development tools such as Camtasia (preferred), Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop (preferred), Adobe InDesign (preferred), Adobe Audition (preferred), WellSaid Labs, Audacity, PowerPoint, SnagIt or equivalent.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams for Business and similar web conferencing tools and the design of synchronous learning events

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills and ability to build on experience to use technology to bring opportunities to use value-added tools to team members’ attention

  • Flexibility to shift focus in a fast-paced environment with continually changing priorities

  • Expertise in creating SCORM packages for publishing to LMS

  • Strong skill with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Four (4) years additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. 

  • 4+ years of relevant experience - expert knowledge of instructional design principles and their applications

  • Expert proficiency in the use of authoring and multimedia tools for the design of eLearning courseware

  • Experience working in a corporate or professional services environment with experience designing and developing training courses and programs desired

  • Prior project work samples to include but not limited to: online learning module/lesson or storyboard, Facilitator or Participant Guide, Job Aid, online portfolio website, etc.
