A Day in the Life

As the Trade Product Classification Analyst, you will manage the day-to-day execution of Medtronic’s global Harmonized Schedule (HS) Classifications, select local HTS Classifications and ECCN Classifications. You will work in conjunction with internal teams and related functional areas to maintain accurate HS and ECCN Classifications according to trade laws.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: 

 

  • Classifies products according to customs rules and requirements for global HS, select local HTS and ECCN 

  • Releases blocked orders in SAP 

  • Identifies items or products that require export or re-export licenses 

  • Research global classifications rules/precedents 

  • Creates a standard customs description and rationale 

  • Collaborates with functional area subject matter experts for product support and understanding 

  • Maintains records and documentation necessary to support Medtronic’s classification decisions in the system of record 

  • Performs classification within Service Level Agreement timelines 

  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement 

  • Collaborates with global Trade teams 

  • Works independently and with team members to proactively streamline processes 

  • Maintains current knowledge of HS and ECCN classification 

 

 

 

Required Knowledge and Experience: 

 

  • High School Degree 

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in Classification 

  • Highly efficient verbal and written communication skills in English 

  • Ability to work in a Hybrid setting 

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence others through demonstrated expertise. 

  • Excellent communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization 

  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills 

  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills 

  • Computer literacy and knowledge of software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Product Lifecycle Management programs, and SAP 

  • Experience working in manufacturing or a matrix structured organization
