Summary:
The Flink Lead is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of real-time data processing solutions using Apache Flink. This role encompasses overseeing the design, development, testing, deployment, and optimization of Flink-based streaming applications. The Flink Lead will guide all stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, high performance, reliability, scalability, and security in data processing pipelines.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Management
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Flink developers and data engineers.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives).
- Ensure the team maintains a healthy backlog of well-defined, estimated user stories and tasks.
- Manage team dynamics, resolve conflicts, and empower members to achieve their potential.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Provide technical guidance and expertise in Flink architecture, streaming design patterns, and best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to make architectural and technical decisions for Flink applications.
- Define technical requirements, roadmaps, and priorities for real-time data solutions.
- Ensure implementation of scalable, maintainable, and secure Flink pipelines aligned with industry standards.
- Conduct code reviews and enforce coding, quality, and documentation standards.
- Guide the team in integrating Flink with other systems (e.g., Kafka, databases, cloud platforms).
- Lead verification and validation of Flink workstreams in collaboration with QA and functional leads.
- Ensure robust testing (unit, integration, performance) for all Flink applications.
- Validate that solutions are fit for purpose and meet business requirements.
- Own the security of Flink platforms and applications.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure regular security scans, vulnerability management, and compliance.
- Prioritize and resolve security issues within the team’s backlog.
Additional Information:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in software/data engineering, with 2+ years leading teams.
- Deep expertise in Apache Flink and real-time data processing.
- Strong knowledge of streaming architectures, event-driven systems, and integration with data sources (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven track record of delivering complex data solutions in Agile environments.
