Join us as a Treasury Markets Lawyer

  • This is a great opportunity to join our Treasury Markets legal team
  • You'll gain significant exposure to a wide range of Treasury matters including negotiations, advisory work, and the management of agreements critical to financial operations
  • This role offers the opportunity to be integral in driving Treasury projects, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring Treasury agreements and arrangements are compliant with bank and regulatory standards
  • We’re offering this position for a period of nine months

What you’ll do


You’ll be working with our Treasury Front Office, internal stakeholders and legal colleagues across a wide range of negotiations, internal projects, and ad-hoc legal and regulatory queries from across the Treasury function.

You’ll also be engaging in cross-border research and conducting legal due diligence on potential new counterparties for the different Treasury trading desks, assessing netting eligibility, capacity and authority.


Day to day you’ll be:

  • Providing legal advice on Treasury projects including the set-up of new products and platforms, including undertaking netting and regulatory analyses as well as the negotiation of service agreements and trading documents
  • Advising on ring-fencing aspects of proposed Treasury transactions and policies
  • Providing input and support to the Treasury master agreement negotiators with respect to master agreements for repo and derivatives, with financial counterparties and pension and investment funds 
  • Drafting long form trade confirmations as required by the business
  • Devising and updating legal policies, playbooks and processes governing Treasury activities and liaising with affected Treasury stakeholders 

The skills you’ll need

To join us in this role, you’ll need to be a qualified lawyer with experience in a law firm or financial institution working in a legal capacity in derivatives, prime brokerage, or sales & trading.  Knowledge of ring-fencing regulation would be an advantage.

We’ll be looking for you to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge or experience of Treasury Markets products, in particular repo and derivatives
  • The ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships up to senior level colleagues 
  • The ability to work proactively within a small team, with a learning mindset
