The company also operates AMC Studios, our in-house studio, production, and distribution operation behind acclaimed and fan-favorite originals including The Walking Dead Universe and the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and AMC Networks International, our international programming business.
 
We are currently seeking a Manager, Business and Legal Affairs to join our Legal and Business Affairs & Rights Management team based in our Santa Monica, CA office.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of Director, Business & Legal Affairs, manage the legal delivery process and create/update new processes and procedures with Director for better expedience and communication with other teams (AP, Media Management/Ops, Business/Upper Management, Production teams); 

  • Track all films through pre-production, post-production, and final internal and external delivery, ensuring that all necessary legal motion picture documentation is vetted and approved. 

  • Perform delivery review of rights agreements, security agreements, talent contracts, credit statements, marketing materials, legal clearances, music agreements, billing blocks, chain of title, E & O Insurance, copyright registrations, and all others to ensure complete delivery of all required docs and assets. 

  •  Manage Legal Delivery Consultant and his team of coordinators/analysts (approximately 3 independent contractors), including delegating their work, overseeing their collection of all delivery elements, assisting with legal issues and questions, and regularly inquiring on the status of projects. 

  • Answer internal/external delivery inquiries and assist Director with escalated delivery matters and requests (E&O coverage, early payment, default, etc.) from licensors, coordinating with Business/Upper Management, AP, and Production as necessary to determine final approval of deliveries as required in such escalated matters. 

  • Manage Delivery Status Grid and SharePoint database, send internal and external legal delivery approval correspondence, and save such correspondence and all collected/approve legal delivery materials to AMC Network’s directories once complete.  

  • Serve as the main contact for clients and internal teams during guild setup by tracking progress, updating stakeholders, resolving issues, and improving procedures for greater efficiency and compliance. 

  • Maintain constantly updated tracking documents and databases for various legal department functions, create, organize, and maintain various network directories for electronic files/documentation/information, and utilize the ability to quickly access, review, analyze and summarize contracts/documentation for supervising Director, SVP, and other internal departments. 

  • Develop practical solutions for corporate legal projects, contract administration, and guild compliance, independently managing, multi-tasking, and prioritizing substantial and diverse workload.  

  • Manage, multi-task, and prioritize substantial and diverse workload. Facilitate independent workflow and office efficiency projects/tools, using a constantly updated status report. 

QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)

  • Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, or 5+ years’ experience at major network / studio and / or law firm focusing on entertainment 
  • Required Software/Technical Skills and abilities:  
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and ability to efficiently utilize this software in a wide variety of assignments 
  • Experience with rights management systems (Rightsline, Filmtrack, etc.) 
  • Deep understanding of the legal delivery workflow and the ability to review and track all document deliverables, including marketing materials 
  • Strong organization and planning skills; able to track multiple projects effectively 
  • Motivated self-starter skilled in multitasking and time management 
  • Creative problem solver that thrives in a fast-paced environment 
  • Polished and effective communicator 
  • The ability to work with external partners to correct delivery deficiencies on a deadline 
  • Established, strong relationships within the entertainment industry

The base compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000 commensurate with experience.
