We are looking for you to join our team as a Staff Human Factors Systems Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD and will require 100% on-site work. 

What You’ll Get to Do:
As an integral part of our Specialty Systems Engineering team in Mission Systems, you will be fulfilling the role of a Staff Human Factors Systems Engineer. 

  • Develop and implement a sound human factors program, providing support in Human Factors Engineering discipline, and working to drive sound systems engineering on programs. 

  • Apply human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine systems and products. 

  • Interface with design engineers to influence the design for human factors with a focus on optimizing the human-machine interface and designing for maintainability. 

  • Conduct design for maintainability assessments using criteria from MIL-STD-1472.

  • Provide technical leadership in the Human Factors Engineering discipline and work to drive sound systems engineering on programs

  • This position is contingent upon contract award, successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, master’s degree with 10 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 7 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics or other related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • U.S Citizenship is required. 

  • A current/active DoD Secret Clearance 

  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start. 

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-1472 and other Human Engineering criteria.

  • Experience conducting HFE assessments.

  • Experience presenting results at major design reviews and interfacing with Customers.

  • Experience developing HFE plans and analysis reports (i.e., HEPP, HESAR, HEDAD-M, HE Test Plans/Reports).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineer, or Mathematics or other related technical fields.

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher.

  • Experience with Design for Maintainability assessments.

  • Support of HFE and/or Maintainability Demos.

  • Experience with performing Maintainability Task Analysis.

  • Knowledge of MIL-HDBK-470 and 472 guidelines and processes.

  • Knowledge of Maintainability predictions in support of quantitative requirements such as MTTR and MaxTTR, to include detailed task analysis.

  • Knowledge of Radar products.

  • Experience supporting proposals (technical write-ups and Basis of Estimates).

Salary Range: $163,200.00 - $244,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
