Job Summary
Organizes schedules for Nuclear Medicine employees, with manager being responsible for the accuracy of the schedule overall. Oversees day-to-day floor operations within the modality, monitors quality and direct education opportunities during these operations. Monitors customer satisfaction and employees satisfaction results, looking for trends and identifying opportunities for improvement. Assists manager with payroll duties as assigned. Monitors and tracks education requirements for employees, as assigned. May lead special projects assigned by leadership.

Essential Functions
  • Operates nuclear detection, imaging, and computer processing equipment for nuclear radiologic studies by following professional, hospital and regulatory protocols to provide physicians with diagnostic images utilized to identify and / or plan appropriate patient treatment.
  • Prepares and administers radioactive agents by adhering to established procedures for preparation of kits and intravenous (IV) injection of agents to ensure accurate diagnostic testing and/or imaging. Monitors and records radiation levels in hot lab, scan room, storage areas and patient rooms. Adheres to standards for radiation safety and for appropriate waste separation and disposal of radioactive agents by performing specific governmental mandates.
  • Assumes all charge responsibilities in the absence of the manager. Assumes lead responsibilities for quality control, radiation safety, supply cost reduction ideas, assisting with American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation, and policy, procedure and form development. Looks for scheduling opportunities for efficiency and revenue gains.
  • Maintains imaging, hot lab, radiopharmaceuticals and processing equipment by performing quality control tests and checking equipment performance and quality of agents administered in accordance with department and regulation standards to ensure patient safety. Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment. Fills out all forms thoroughly, completes all tasks in computerized medical record system and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) in a timely manner.
  • Assists leadership in ensuring compliance with radiation safety programs, including ALARA safety protocols and participates in departmental inspections by Federal/State agencies.
  • Provides the Supervisor/Manager input regarding employee performance.
  • May be asked to participate in the interview process of new applicants.

Qualifications
  • Required Associate's Degree or equivalent in health care or related field
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in health care or related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience as Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Required
  • CRT-Nuclear Medicine Technologist - NMTCB Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board Upon Hire required Or
  • CRT-Nuc Med Technologist (N) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
