Job Description

GPLA, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking a Senior Structural Project Manager. This role will be responsible for leading and overseeing complex construction projects with a primary focus on structural elements. This role involves managing all aspects of the project, from conception to completion, ensuring that the structural components are designed, executed, and delivered in accordance with specifications, safety standards, and within budgetary and time constraints. The Senior Structural Project Manager provides expert guidance and strategic direction, working closely with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Strategy: Develop a comprehensive project plan, defining objectives, scope, deliverables, and timelines. Conduct feasibility studies, collaborate with architects and engineers to assess structural requirements, and estimate necessary resources. Formulate strategic approaches to optimize project execution.

  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Create project budgets, estimate costs, and track expenses throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with stakeholders to allocate financial resources appropriately and implement cost-effective solutions. Monitor project finances and make informed decisions to ensure financial objectives are met.

  • Team Leadership and Management: Assemble and lead a multidisciplinary team, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors. Delegate tasks, monitor progress, and foster effective collaboration and communication. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, promoting their professional development.

  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and develop comprehensive strategies to mitigate them. Conduct thorough risk assessments, implement safety protocols, and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations. Proactively address potential issues and challenges to minimize project disruptions.

  • Procurement and Resource Management: Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for the project. Evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure the efficient utilization of resources. Maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers.

  • Quality Assurance and Control: Implement robust quality control measures to ensure adherence to specified standards and specifications. Conduct inspections, monitor work progress, and address any deviations or deficiencies promptly. Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including clients, architects, government agencies, and regulatory bodies. Provide regular updates, address concerns, and maintain effective communication channels. Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure a high level of satisfaction.

  • Project Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and other relevant records. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to keep stakeholders informed about project status, milestones, and necessary modifications. Ensure transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in structural engineering. 

  • 10 - 15 years of structural engineering design experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
