The Opportunity
Manulife's Strategy team in Hong Kong works with cross functional teams to drive the development, and execution of the Company’s long-term strategy and key strategic initiatives for Hong Kong. Team members have access to a unique vantage point to participate and shape some of the most important strategic dialogues and decisions at the company.
Manulife HK is seeking for an Associate Director, HK Strategy Office to be responsible for planning, assessing, and driving Manulife Hong Kong’s strategy to drive value for our Customers, Shareholders and Employees. Specifically, the role will be heavily involved in conducting analysis, developing company narratives to stakeholders internally and externally, serving as a partner to functions, and executing and coordinating on our key strategic initiatives that significantly contribute to Manulife’s growth aspirations. The Associate Director will report to the Chief Strategy Officer and will work closely with the functions and the Asia regional office.

We are looking for someone with:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Actuarial Science, with at least 10 years work experience in insurance industry.
Strategy skills: Experience formulating strategy, familiar with key principles of strategy development including generating hypothesis, ability to think conceptually and creatively regarding solutions and opportunities.
Strong financial and data analysis: Ability to triangulate financial data and generate key insights to test and validate hypothesis as well as forecasting.
Execution focused: Ability to drive projects through providing appropriate project framework, clarity on content and deliverables and effectively engaging and managing stakeholders.
Analysis, insight and problem solving: Ability to collect and collate high volumes of diverse information regarding markets, customer and risk without becoming overwhelmed.
Ability to separate critical and urgent details for integration into planning.
Communication skills: Excellent influence, negotiation and stakeholders management and presentation skills
Tenacity and work ethic: Has a strong sense of ownership and work ethic to see projects to completion. Is undeterred by challenges/obstacles and will remain motivated, composed and apply creating thinking to overcome them.
Cultural-fit: Humble individual with a Can-do attitude
Candidate with more experience will be considered as Director position and candidate with less experience will be considered as Senior Manager position
On the job you will:
Identify strategic issues & opportunities that could influence business growth and profitability
Understands the overall picture in most situations, understands the political landscape and informal hierarchy within the business, attuned to industry disruptors and trends
Define structure and execute strategic initiatives through the development of work plans, gather and generate relevant data, drive analyses, and the development of actionable recommendations
Lead cross-functional teams to review feasibility of new propositions, as well as potential growth opportunities with a keen eye on value generation, provide short and long term strategic recommendations
Put in place performance measures, and establish KPIs to ensure delivery and effectiveness of implemented strategies, track progress against ambitions and execution and identify areas for strategic improvement
Establish project and program management standards, supporting tools and techniques
Draft regular analysis reports for senior strategy management, business leadership and executives, and relevant stakeholders for purposes of further decision making
Align initiatives and roadmap with key stakeholders and work with delivery team on prioritization, business case gating and eventually the delivery of the initiative
Establish collaborative and trusting relationships with the business’s key internal leaders and stakeholders in order to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas and information across the business, leading to suitable strategy formulation and overall business performance enhancement
