Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Our ideal candidate is self-motivated and passionate about developing data dashboards. This internship will provide the opportunity to gain experience in the development of elements of data pipelines and data visualization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn from a variety of individuals including VPs, Directors, Lead Software Architects, Data Engineers, and DevOps Engineers. This opportunity will enable exposure to the following types of languages and platforms: Python, SQL, Azure Databricks, Grafana.
The Operations team at Chamberlain is looking for enthusiastic BI Development interns to build and maintain data pipelines to support Operations. During the 12-week program, you will initiate, manage, and deliver a project, including identifying and understanding valuable internal and external data and collaborating closely with Data Analysts, SRE Engineers, and DevOps Engineers to wrangle data for the design, development, and deployment of new solutions.
As a BI Development Intern, you can expect to do the following:
Collaborate with stakeholders and Operations business partners to understand business needs and identify and define analytics solutions
Execute activities supporting solution development, including data gathering, cleansing, and integration with existing framework
Develop and maintain optimal data pipelines into the Azure platform, including design of data flows, procedures, and schedules
Collaborate with data visualization and reporting application developers to ensure the sustainability of production applications and reports
Create documentation and training materials for end-user understanding
Effectively communicate results and findings to stakeholders and Chamberlain's Executive Leadership Team upon internship completion
Upon completion of the project, you will have the opportunity to present your results and findings to Chamberlain’s Executive Leadership Team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields of study from an accredited college or university
Experience preparing dashboards and in data visualization tools, including Power BI
Experience in developing complex queries in SQL and fundamental knowledge in database modelling
Basic understanding of Python programming language
Must be able to work from our Oakbrook, IL office (15 miles west of Chicago) 3 days a week
Preferred Qualifications:
Completed data analysis, data engineering, or software development courses or bootcamps
Functional knowledge of Version Control Systems (GIT)
