Hatchery Attendant - Night Shift

SHIFT SCHEDULE:

Monday - Tuesday: 10 PM - 6 AM,

Off Wednesday and Thursday

Friday and Saturday: 3 PM - 3 AM

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Hatchery Night Shift Attendant monitors equipment used to refrigerate, incubate, and hatch chicks overnight while supervision is not on-site.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:        

  • Monitor hatchers and setters to ensure proper functionality; report issues to maintenance in a timely fashion
  • Monitor Hatchery environment to ensure proper functionality of Air Conditioning, Heat, and Humidity levels
  • Administer formaldehyde in prescribed manner
  • Comply with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead or participate in solution implementation
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory helping to promote a zero-accident culture
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned by Hatchery Manager and/or Supervisor

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Preferred one (1) year applicable experience in a similar environment
  • Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner; multi-lingual strongly preferred
  • Ability to handle and resolve most issues in an efficient and effective manner while ensuring confidential information is relayed only on a need-to-know basis
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail
  • Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work overnight shift, with little to no supervision
  • Ability to work extended shifts (holiday, weekend and/or extended) as business need requires
  • Ability to work in cold/ humid or hot/ dusty environments as needed
  • Ability to work in extreme heat (100 degrees or greater)
  • Ability to stand up to 8 hours
  • Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, kneel and crawl
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
