The University of Maryland Global Campus is looking for a key digital leadership role responsible for helping to guide and implement the strategic direction, development, and optimization of the university’s online marketing presence. The Director of UX primary goal will be to improve the new student lead generation flow, improve the site navigation, improve the mobile experience and other critical business objectives – all based on analytics, testing and industry best practices.

They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the university’s websites serve as an effective tool to engage, inform, and convert visitors into new students. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in web development, user experience design, and digital marketing strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for optimizing the organization's website to enhance user experience, drive engagement, and achieve business objectives.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including acquisition channels, design, editorial, and technical subject matter experts to align website initiatives with overall university goals.

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the website experience.

Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of website features, functionality, and enhancements.

Manage website projects from conception to completion, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards.

Monitor website performance, conduct regular audits, and conduct testing to optimize speed, usability, and accessibility.

Conduct user research, testing, and data analysis to identify opportunities for enhancing the website's user experience.

Oversee A/B testing roadmap to analyze user behavior, and continuously optimize the website to improve conversion rates and achieve KPIs.

Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly interfaces.

Implement personalization and customization strategies to deliver tailored experiences for different audience segments.

Work closely with the broader marketing team to integrate digital marketing initiatives (e.g., SEO, SEM, email campaigns) with the website to drive traffic, conversions, and engagement.

Utilize web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to track key metrics, analyze user behavior, and optimize marketing efforts.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

Proven experience in managing digital user experience, marketing, user experience design, or related roles with at least 10 years experience.

Experience working with AEM (Adobe Experience Manager)

Strong understanding of web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jquery, ReactJS, SPAs, AngularJS, Responsive mobile first design

Experience using Adobe Target for A/B, multivariant testing

Not required, but preference for candidates who have experience using the Activate component library

Familiar with: accessibility WCAG standards, search engine optimization as it relates to user-experience, and page performance improvements

Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making and a passion for delivering exceptional user experiences.

Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies.

Hiring Range:

$145,000.00 - $160,000.00
