General Information:

Health & Safety consists of performing various duties to promote and ensure the health and safety of employees, protecting them from accidents and environmental hazards and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Perform a variety of HSE duties following general approach specified by supervisor. Assist in administering HSE programs and policies. Advise managers regarding occupational health concerns and suggest measures to improve HSE practices.

Provide or coordinate care, treatment, and management of occupational and non-occupational illnesses/injuries per standing protocols within scope of practice. Consult and cooperate with management in health-related matters.
 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver professional nursing care and render treatment for occupational and non-occupational illness/injuries per standing protocols. 
  • Provides a line of communication and refers employees to appropriate services for additional assessment as needed.
  • Ability to manage follow up appointments for injured or ill employees from all shifts.
  • Initiates and maintains hearing conservation, vision, medical surveillance, and respiratory programs including medical exams.
  • Maintains the plant OSHA 300 log and site electronic HSE tracking system (Intelex) ensuring all OSHA recordkeeping standards are upheld.
  • Collaborates with process engineering and manufacturing management on ergonomics and musculoskeletal disorders. Conducts comprehensive ergonomic assessments of work areas utilizing employee hazard exposure data, ergonomic hazard measurement tools, employee surveys, observations, and interviews.
  • Coordinates and participates in the planning and implementation of program training, including educational training and screening programs.
  • Manage the bloodborne pathogens program and administer hepatitis vaccines to trained first aid responders.
  • Perform pre-employment physical assessments and makes recommendations for job placements based on. Conducts periodic assessments in response to requests or special needs.
  • Coordinates data management and develops reporting, tracking, and analysis.
  • Maintain employee confidentiality at all times.
  • Coordinate health promotions activities i.e. blood drive, flu shots, biometrics screenings etc., and provide health education and teach self-care practices to employees and dependents.
  • Available for call and work during off-hours with minimal notices as needed.
  • Perform other functions as assigned.

Your Background:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited or State approved nursing school. Must be certified and legally qualified to practice in the State of Mississippi.  Required unrestricted license or certification: LPN, RN.
  • 2-5 years of nursing experience required.  
  • Industrial environment experience preferred.
  • Occupational Health experience preferred.
  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR and AED required.
  • Excellent assessment skills.
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with existing safety & risk control teams and HR is a must.
  • Ability to build and balance relationships between the employee, employer/operations, and service provider’s needs to keep injured workers at work or RTW as quickly as possible.
  • Assertive and independent medical decision making.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with good attention to detail and deliver effective presentations.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
