Backstage Event Security Workers

The Covey Center for the Arts is seeking backstage security members to assist with security and crowd flow before, during, and after events. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in supporting the performances at the Covey Center are encouraged to apply.

What is the compensation?

Pay Rate: $11.00

What will I do?

• Secure backstage areas and items, including dressing rooms, props, and technical spaces, to prevent unauthorized access. 

• Ensure emergency exits are well-lit with clear access paths. 

• Make sure all equipment is properly maintained and secured to prevent accidents. 

• Manage crowd flow backstage during performances, especially during entrances and exits. 

• Maintain a quiet atmosphere backstage to allow performers to prepare for their roles. 

• Be prepared for various emergencies by having comprehensive plans to address different situations. 

• Establish clear communication channels for reporting and addressing emergencies.

What do I need to apply?

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent (GED).

• Must have the physical strength and agility to perform the duties of the role.

• Theatre or event experience preferred.

• Security experience preferred.

What is the schedule?

Schedule is typically Monday – Saturday nights with occasional weekday and Saturday matinee performances.

What is the selection process?

This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received (at least seven days). Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
