Benefits to You
We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.

Position Highlights
The Clatsop County Circuit Court in Astoria, Oregon, is hiring a Supervisor 3.
In this role, you will train, coach, and motivate court staff to excellence in efficiency, customer service, work quality, and toward continual improvement. You will consult with members of the team about ongoing projects, conduct staff meetings, establish and maintain work schedules, update personnel records in Workday, and approve leave and overtime requests while ensuring there is sufficient coverage.
You will also assign, review, and evaluate performance, determine training needs, address any performance issues, conduct investigations, provide disciplinary action, and escalate issues to the Trial Court Administrator (TCA) as needed. When hiring needs arise, you will help prepare job postings, answer personnel questions from applicants and staff, participate in interview panels, and make hiring recommendations.
Additionally, you will respond to the most difficult complaints and requests for technical information about court policies, procedures, and regulations. You will collaborate with and respond to inquiries and requests from judges, court staff, attorneys, agencies, and the public. As a resource to the TCA, judges, and court staff, you will analyze and resolve procedural or workflow issues and monitor the timeliness of case processing. You will partner with representatives from other government agencies to accomplish the court’s goals and objectives on overarching justice system projects. You will also assist the TCA by performing administrative duties, conducting research, developing projects and project plans, and providing updates about any issues or legislative changes that could impact the court or court operations. In the event of an emergency, you will be the onsite point of contact.
You will serve as a leader by example, collaborator and innovator, and advocate for access to justice.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Filling This Position
This position will be filled one of two ways:
By appointment of a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications (as identified below) for a Supervisor 3; OR
By developmental underfill of a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications (as identified below) for a Supervisor 2.
Supervisor 3 Minimum Qualifications
(These must be evident in your resume or work history.)
The qualified candidate must have an associate’s degree in business, management, or a related field.
AND
Five (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory or staff-support experience. Qualifying OJD experience would be at the equivalent of Court Operations Associate or above.
Note: Your recent experience must reflect staff support or supervision, directly or through lead workers, of staff performing a wide variety of clerical, analytical, and technical support duties. The supervisory experience must include most, or all, of the following:
Special projects,
Developing and updating policies and procedures,
Hiring or recommending hiring,
Training,
Assigning and reviewing work,
Evaluating performance,
Responding to staff concerns, and
Handling disciplinary actions.
OR
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to seven (7) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
Supervisor 2 Minimum Qualifications (Developmental Underfill)
(These must be evident in your resume or work history.)
The qualified candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in court administration, management, business or public administration, or a closely related field.
OR
Four (4) years of progressively responsible staff-support experience in OJD at the equivalent of Court Operations Associate or above.
OR
Four (4) years of recent experience supervising, directly or through lead workers, staff performing a wide variety of clerical or administrative support duties. The supervisory experience must include most, or all, of the following:
Developing work procedures,
Hiring or recommending hiring,
Training,
Assigning and reviewing work,
Evaluating performance,
Responding to staff concerns, and
Handling disciplinary actions.
OR
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is FLSA-exempt and ineligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
A minor amount of travel to attend training sessions and statewide meetings at OJD courts and divisions may be required.
Frequent in-person and phone contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
Frequent in-person and phone contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma. There may be occasional exposure to hostile people or violent situations.
Frequent use of the telephone.
