Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. This internship will be based on-site at our headquarters in Mountain View, CA.

You will:

• Develop novel algorithmic and system optimization techniques to make the Waymo foundational models more efficient.
• Apply model optimizations and efficient deep learning techniques and benchmark their quality and performance implications on Waymo foundational models.
• Code in Python

You have:

• Progressing towards PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or related technical fields.
• Knowledge of Transformers basics.
• Experience with system performance optimization.
• Strong programming skill in Python.

We prefer:

• Strong track record of high quality research in machine learning, computer systems, and/or computer architecture.
• Experience with hardware acceleration, GPU and/or TPU optimizations.
• Experience with JAX.
