This role provides technology support across 9 Lines of Business including; Treasury, Transaction Banking, Canada Corporate Banking, Japanese’s Corporate Banking, Planning and Accounting, Administration and HR, Risk, and Corporate Compliance, and Legal.

The position leads and oversees all of Information Technology for Canada which consists of the following sub-verticals:

  • Technology operations and service desk

  • Enterprise Architecture, infrastructure and network engineering

  • Application Services and Quality Assurance (QA)

  • Program Management Office, Business Analysis

Leadership and Strategy:

Works closely with the CIOO and other lines of business to:

  • Provide leadership of a set of technology products and services which enables all lines of business functions to deliver a high quality integrated service offering.

  • Categorizes, assess and enact plans to realize MUFG's global, regional and local vision to affect cultural changes, cost-savings, interdepartmental efficiencies, implement agility and scalability and to champion MUFG growth and interests while increasing visibility, respecting cultural differences and building rapport/relationships throughout the Americas and Head Office.

  • Ensure the consistent delivery, maintenance and improvement of all lT services and systems.

Technology Governance and Controls:

  • Implements, manages and enforces lT standards, and procedures and development of standard operating procedures, processes and best practices, including providing written protocols and guidance to lT staff and to end-users.

  • Oversees the Project Management Lifecycle for MUFG Canada including the business case, initiation, planning, executing, controlling and closing of projects with an emphasis on project inter-dependency management; controlling and evaluating project mitigation decisions and change recommendations to meet program delivery with required quality.

  • Responsible for lT vendor management and sourcing including cost analysis and comparison as well as overseeing central repository or all lT vendor agreements and contracts to monitor adherence to vendor term conditions, performance, licensing requirements and status.

Business Continuity and Risk Management:

  • Accountable for lT Risk Management, including establishing an approach to identifying and assessing all risks, including regulatory adherence, information and cyber security threats, and actively participate in the various committees or group meetings in order to promote awareness, respond to ¡incidents and execute the necessary remediation or mitigation

  • Serves as the Regional Business Continuity Liaison as the primary point of contact for employee safety and business continuity at MUFG Bank, Canada branch and providing a first line defense against outages and recovery and resilience through planning and coordination efforts.

Operations:

  • Implements and oversees proper lT governance and promotes continuous improvements to oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk, technical support services and introduction of new technologies, in order to support the business and ensure the safety and soundness of the branch.

  • Ensures operating reliability and stability of IT products and services •

  • Manages all Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 ITD staff including hiring, training, evaluation, guidance, discipline, and discharge as well as overall resource capacity to ensure feasibility to start and complete projects as planned while accounting for BAU activities.

  • Coach and mentor team members to achieve objectives and deliver on a timely basis in methods that are aligned with corporate culture and values.

Technical Skills:

  • Robust business acumen and proficiency with the ability to translate, relate and present complex technology terms, concepts and strategies to non-technology audiences.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and communication skills, written and verbal, ability to manage with influence and practicality, be decisive under ambiguity, in order to bridge across technology disciplines and business lines to effect solutions and unity.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates resilience with the ability to interact and partner with diverse stakeholders across multiple global organizations.
  • Blend of strategic thinking, innovation and the ability to mobilize, execute and deliver within a regulated environment including banks and financial institutions.
  • Experience with interpretation and implementation of regulatory guidelines and expectations within the banking industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field. Advanced credentials are a plus.
  • Minimum 15+ years' experience and 5+ years in a technology management role within the banking/financial industry.
