  • Animal Care:
    • Feed, water, and monitor the health and well-being of animals in the kennel, reporting any changes in behavior, appetite, or health.
    • Walk, exercise, and provide enrichment for dogs and cats in a safe and controlled manner.
    • Administer medications or special dietary needs as directed by the veterinary team.
    • Assist with bathing and basic grooming of animals.
  • Sanitation & Maintenance:
    • Clean and disinfect kennels, hospital, cages, and other animal housing areas regularly to maintain a sanitary environment.
    • Wash and sanitize food and water dishes, bedding, and other animal care supplies.
    • Properly dispose of waste materials.
    • Keep kennel areas stocked with supplies, such as food, litter, and cleaning materials.
  • Animal Handling:
    • Safely handle and restrain animals for examinations, treatments, or procedures under the supervision of the practice manager, veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
    • Assist with the intake and discharge of outpatient animals, ensuring proper documentation and care instructions are followed.
  • Client Communication:
    • Greet and communicate with pet owners in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Assist with answering basic client questions regarding boarding, feeding, and care services.
    • Provide updates to pet owners on their pets' stay, if required.
  • Additional Support:
    • Assist the veterinary team during procedures as needed (e.g., animal restraint).
    • Monitor and report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Veterinary Practice Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with animals, preferably in a kennel, veterinary, or shelter environment.
  • Basic understanding of animal care and handling techniques.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding role (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of animal behavior and proper restraint techniques.
  • Familiarity with cleaning and sanitation protocols in a veterinary setting.

Compensation:

  • $17.00 - $19.00 Depending on work experience

Work Environment:

The position involves regular exposure to animals, noise, odors, and potentially hazardous materials (cleaning products). The work is physically demanding and may require handling difficult or aggressive animals.
