POSITION: Student & Family Recruitment Specialist

LOCATION: DSST Home Office

PAY: $33-$44 per hour

STATUS: 15-25 per week (flexible schedule that is set week to week based on need)

DURATION: December 2 - March 7 (approx. 14 weeks)

STATUS: Employee Contractor, not benefits eligible, in-person position (Denver, CO)

START: Immediate 

THE ROLE

The Student & Family Recruitment Specialist will support DSST Public Schools’ recruitment efforts by driving student registrations, applications, and community awareness of school opportunities. This role directly impacts students and families by enhancing enrollment and ensuring access to quality education. Responsibilities include engaging with families, supporting recruitment events, and creating social media content to promote the schools. The ideal candidate is proactive, personable, and passionate about helping families navigate the school choice process. This flexible contract position requires 15-25 hours per week.

Areas of Focus include: 

Student & Family Recruitment 

  • Outreach to Families: Conduct at least 30 to 50 phone calls to families of students at select schools to encourage registration and provide information about school programs. Focus on reaching weekly interest forms, registration and attendance goals. 

  • Assisting with 100% Student Intent to Return Completion & Follow-Up: Provide support to students and families in completing their intent to return paperwork, guiding them through the necessary steps to ensure completion, and answering questions and ensuring timely follow up. 

  • Lead Generation via Community Outreach: Represent the school at local community events (e.g., grocery stores, community centers) by tabling and engaging directly with families to generate leads for student enrollment. 

  • Recruitment Line and Email Support: Answer inbound calls and respond to emails from prospective families within 24 hours, providing clear and helpful information about enrollment procedures and school offerings. 

  • Event Support at Schools: Attend and assist with set-up, clean-up, and greeting at recruitment events for our schools (as needed), providing on-site support, engaging with attendees, and helping to answer questions from families.

Student & Family Recruitment 

  • Storytelling at Schools: Spend time at our schools capturing photos, videos, and stories that help tell the narrative of the schools, showcasing their culture and offerings. 

  • Recruitment Marketing Materials: Assist in the creation and dissemination of marketing materials to prospective families, ensuring consistent and clear communication regarding recruitment activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 

  • Written and verbal fluency in English and Spanish 

  • Strong cultural competency skills, including ability to communicate and work effectively and cultivate relationships with diverse families 

  • Ability to attend and/or coordinate attendance at community and civic events that often occur outside of regular working hours 

  • Capacity to initiate and nurture relationships with prospective and current families and community organizations 

  • Excellent Communication Skills, both verbal and written 

  • Comfortable with Phone Outreach and Direct Engagement with families and students 

  • Self-Starter and Detail-Oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet weekly goals 

  • Tech-Savvy with experience in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and general marketing tools 

  • Passion for Education and a desire to support families through the school selection and enrollment process 

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel (running and creating functions, filtering lists, and making charts), and Google Suite 

  • Requires reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Alumni (DSST, DPS, or APS), current DSST family, or retired or former DSST staff who have a personal connection to our schools and the students we serve 

  • Experience in Education or Community Outreach preferred, especially in student recruitment or admissions 

  • Experience with Hubspot or similar CRM as well as an aptitude to learn systems and new software
