Position Description:

We are currently seeking a highly detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our finance team as a Staff I Accountant. This role offers a blend of transactional accounting and entry-level financial responsibilities, providing a solid foundation for career growth. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, capable of multitasking, and eager to take ownership of day-to-day Accounts Receivable (A/R) functions. This position plays a vital role in assisting the management of cash flow, supporting financial processes, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting team. This entry-level position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a desire to grow their career in the field.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Receivable:
    • Manage the full A/R cycle, including invoicing, collections, payment processing, and account reconciliation.
    • Monitor and maintain A/R aging reports, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding balances.
    • Collaborate with internal departments and external customers to resolve billing discrepancies efficiently.
    • Prepare and analyze monthly A/R reports, identifying risks or delays in collections.
    • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate variances.
    • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures related to billing and collections.
    • Assist the Finance Director with A/R-related tasks during audits.
    • Continuously seek opportunities to improve and streamline A/R processes.
  • Bank Reconciliations:
    • Reconcile bank statements for accuracy and promptly address any discrepancies.
  • Accounting Close Process:
    • Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including but not limited to, account reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation
    • Enter manual checks and wires into Oracle
    • Maintain credit card reconciliations
  • General Ledger Maintenance:
    • Assist with maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts.
    • Record journal entries and adjustments accurately and on time.
    • Create project numbers for new events in Oracle.
    • Monitor and track company expenses, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
    • Collaborate with various teams to ensure proper coding and documentation of expenses.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as directed by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience, particularly in A/R processes, general ledger reconciliations, and cash applications.
  • Key Competencies:
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and external customers.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • Professional demeanor with a customer service-oriented mindset.
    • Self-starter who uses downtime effectively to support the department's needs.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
    • Comfortable using both Apple/Mac and PC operating systems.
    • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, particularly during monthly accounting close periods or busy project timelines.
  • Experience with A/R process improvement and automation.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving accounting issues.

The expected compensation for this position is:

$20.86 USD - $26.08 USD Hourly

** Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
