Job Description
The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s network infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of performance, security, and availability. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, hands-on experience with network hardware and software, and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both the theoretical and practical aspects of networking, with an emphasis on problem-solving and optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design and Implementation:
- Design and implement scalable and secure network solutions that meet business requirements.
- Plan and deploy new network hardware and software upgrades.
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network devices.
Network Management and Maintenance:
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Perform regular network performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly.
- Conduct regular network maintenance, including patch management and firmware updates.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed network diagrams and documentation.
- Create and implement network procedures and configurations.
- Generate reports on network performance, issues, and improvements.
Team Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with other team members to support overall network infrastructure.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior network engineers.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers for network-related services and support.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Relevant certifications (CCNP, JNCIP) are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on designing, implementing, and managing complex network environments.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF).
- Proficiency in IPv4 and IPv6 addressing.
- Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 multicast configuration.
- Extensive experience with Cisco and Juniper network hardware and software.
- Strong understanding of firewall technologies, VPNs, and network security practices.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Extensive experience with Linux systems and shell scripting.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications:
- Advanced networking certifications such as CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS).
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
