Data Scientist – Audit Manager | S3 | Internal Audit

Country: United Kingdom

Interested in part-time, job-share or flexible working ? We want to talk to you!

Join our community.

At Santander Internal Audit, we rely on insightful data to power our systems and solutions. We’re seeking a data scientist to deliver insights on a daily basis.

You’ll ideally have data science expertise, along with natural curiosity and a creative mind. While acquiring, cleaning, and interpreting our data, this person will be relied on to ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover hidden opportunities for realising the data’s full potential. As part of a multi-disciplinary squad, the data scientist is an integral part of creating new visions for the audit function of the future.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to develop a deep understanding of our needs
  • Leading end-to-end data science projects leveraging machine learning and GenAI
  • Researching and devising innovative solutions using emerging technologies
  • Identifying and acting on opportunities to simplify and transform auditing processes
  • Being part of a cohesive IA function, actively engaging with all stakeholders

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Experienced programmer with focus on data analysis and modelling (e.g. Python,  SQL)
  • Knowledgeable in agile development and project management
  • Ability to create, test and deploy predictive models and GenAI enabled applications
  • Experience of working in a Data Scientist or relevant role

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Web application development experience
  • Familiar with DevOps practices, including containerization (Docker) and Git version control
  • Working knowledge of auditing concepts and risk management
  • Educated to Degree level or related professional qualification

What else you need to know:

This role is based in Milton Keynes.

We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

If you apply for this role in this location, it’s important you consider your travelling distance, time and cost from your home to the office location.

We’re happy to discuss specific working patterns and arrangement within this hybrid approach during the recruitment process.

If you’re interested in this role but with part time hours or a job-share we would still love to hear from you and discuss these.

We are the owners of a cloud-based digital platform hosting a suite of self-serve data analysis tools and business intelligence tools embedded in the Internal Audit methodology. It is built on a Python Flask backend with a PostgreSQL database and a custom HTML/CSS/JS frontend.

We are consuming and processing data from our enterprise data lake and our audit management platform to power our application.

On the DevOps side we are using Github for source control / CICD and Docker for development and deployment.
