Job Description:

SUMMARY: This internship is designed for Tribal Team Members interested in gaining practical experience in the operations of Engineering, specifically, Maintenance Engineer. The Intern will have the opportunity to gain up to 2000 hours (1 year) of on-the-job training, education and experience necessary to understand and perform the duties of the position by successfully completing all tasks and assignments listed in the Intern Work Plan Outline. Additionally, Interns will participate in LEAP trainings to gain leadership skills, computer training, and may acquire trade-specific certifications(s), or attend off-site trainings, in order to enhance their skills and broaden their service knowledge. The Maintenance Engineer Intern will acquire the skills necessary to be responsible for performing all general maintenance and repair functions within approved guidelines and as directed. Upon successful conclusion of the Maintenance Engineer program, Interns will receive a certificate of completion. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: During the course of the Maintenance Engineer Intern program, and under supervision, Interns will learn to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities Work collaboratively with the management team, training staff, and the TMCDPA to complete all portions of the internship outline/work plan. Interact effectively with guests and other Team Members. Perform excellent customer service at all times. Perform all general maintenance and repair of minor problems throughout the Casino complex as directed by immediate supervisor. Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment, as assigned. Maintain pool and spa as well as equipment through the training and guidance of certified pool operator. Support other Maintenance Engineers, as needed. Ensure adherence to all OSHA regulations and internal safety policies and procedures. Operate company vehicles, as required. Perform any reasonable request made by management. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Intern - Maintenance Engineer EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED or willingness to obtain diploma or GED during the course of the Internship required. Previous related work experience in mechanics, maintenance, or construction preferred. Experience in multiple trades such as dry wall, wall coverings, floor tile, carpet, wood flooring, finish woodwork, door installation painting, and touch-up painting preferred. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a currently enrolled PRCI Tribal Member. Must be at least 21 years of age. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Must be able or willing to learn to read blueprints. Must be able to work in high places or confined spaces. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure and technical manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Team Members of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
