The Opportunity

Our Diabetes Care business have an exciting opportunity for 2 Project Engineering Interns to join our Operations Engineering team for an approximately 13-month internship (starting Summer 2025) at our Manufacturing Centre of Excellence site in Witney, Oxfordshire. 

The main purpose of the role:

  • To be a part of a highly-skilled team delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges in an automated manufacturing process.
  • To provide support and assistance with Engineering and systems projects, documentation and other activities in compliance with site, Corporate and external regulatory requirements.
  • To assist Engineering and Scientific personnel in executions of Engineering and Validation activities.
  • Examples of this include machine specification, testing/characterisation of process and equipment, designing experiments/protocols to prove machine/product functions as required.
  • Work could include running trials on manufacturing equipment, creating models, collecting and analysing data and writing reports.
  • Exposure and insight to our Validation procedures for qualifying production equipment that is used for manufacturing components for medical devices.

The main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Responsible for working within the Operations Engineering team providing support to Senior Engineers on projects and tasks within agreed constraints of time, cost and quality.
  • Contribute to the development and validations of our production equipment proposing solutions to issues as they arise, implementing and documenting under supervision.
  • To ensure that changes are introduced according to the required standards and change control processes.
  • All documentation must be completed in compliance with site, Corporate and external regulatory requirements

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, well organised individual studying towards an engineering degree (including Biomedical, System engineering, Electrical, Mechanical or similar, Bachelors or Integrated Masters), and bring a passion and interest for delivering on engineering projects in a fast paced and automated manufacturing environment. This role would suit a person with good communication skills who enjoys working on a variety of different projects simultaneously.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to work independently, as well as part of a team, and enjoy problem solving through collaboration.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate around STEM, and keen to pursue their career in the Medical Devices sector. You should be excited about working in a fast-paced environment within a hard-working and welcoming team.
