PROJECT MANAGER - ELECTRICAL TESTING, COMMISSIONING, & PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
The Project Manager at O’Connell Electric Company is an organized, service-oriented individual responsible for managing projects focused on electrical testing, commissioning, and preventative maintenance for a variety of clients. This role requires effective communication with departments, vendors, employees, and clients to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Manage the full lifecycle of electrical testing, commissioning, and maintenance projects.
- Communicate effectively with clients, management, and team members to resolve issues and provide project status updates.
- Develop, assemble, and prepare all necessary documentation and procedures for project commissioning and closeout activities.
- Create internal scope documents during project kickoff and maintain control over project schedule, quality, and costs.
- Order and manage materials and subcontract services as needed, ensuring timely delivery to maintain project schedules.
- Generate work orders, prioritize tasks, and formulate appropriate schedules to execute client work efficiently.
- Technical Duties:
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and perform start-up procedures on low, medium, and high voltage (up to 765kV) electrical systems.
- Oversee testing and calibration of electro-mechanical and solid-state relays, as well as low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
- Respond to client emergencies in a timely manner.
- Provide technical support to field service personnel, particularly in testing and troubleshooting electrical power distribution systems.
- Commissioning Leadership:
- Lead and support the project team in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for new power systems, substations, and power generation facilities.
- Oversee the development of project specific commissioning procedures and manage the Commissioning and Startup Team to ensure efficient resource deployment.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are executed safely, in compliance with established procedures, and industry standards.
- Client Relations:
- Conduct client communication in a highly customer service-oriented manner, potentially expanding project scope and negotiating any extra charges associated with work performed.
- Schedule jobs with clients and meet on-site to review and identify their needs.
- Help manage the ongoing schedule and travel planning to facilitate timely responses to clients.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety rules and best practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory laws.
- Maintain a commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance in all project activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven experience managing electrical projects in industrial facilities or substations.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate large teams across multiple locations.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls aspects of projects, including the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Proficiency in project and contract management methodologies, with experience in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management software (Procore & Primavera or Microsoft Project preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel locally to client work locations or worksites as required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Compensation:
The minimum and maximum annual salary that O’Connell Electric Company, Inc. believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is between $88,500 to $112,500 annually.
