Working as an Optical Engineer at Signify is dynamic. You‘ll be working closely with local and global engineering teams who are a highly experienced and quality driven. We’re greater together through peer learning in our globally diverse team, with different backgrounds and nationalities. 

We’re looking for an optical engineer who will be responsible for ensuring successful conclusion of all phases of assigned standard engineering projects, within an appropriate time. Investigates and troubleshoots problems and requirements of projects as well as develops plans for solutions. This position coordinates with other departments on assigned tasks and secures and reviews inputs from various stakeholders and make recommendations accordingly. Provides data for team-level measures. They may also act as technical leaders for small projects. 

What you’ll do

  • Create basic optical designs using refractive or reflective principles. 
  • Analyze photometric information in application software.
  • Generate primary three-dimensional CAD parts
  • Create appropriate test requests to document product performance using basic understanding of photometric principles.
  • Review test data for accuracy and completeness
  • Demonstrate aptitude to learn corporate process
  • Contribute creative solutions to optical and photometric challenges

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Optical Engineering/Physics/ Illumination Engineering/ or Electronics / Electronics and Communication / Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in design of optical systems /optical engineering focusing on applications of optics.
  • Knowledge of non-imaging" optical engineering experience (optical light guides, non-imaging reflectors, non-imaging lenses etc.) which deals with controlling the distribution of light.
  • Experience/knowledge of optical design for LED lights and luminaires.
  • Experience/knowledge of illumination engineering with more compact optics color mixing capabilities and understanding of tolerance to variations in the relative position of light source and optics.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team member
  • Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
